We had a truly wonderful premiere in Dallas! Most of the participants in the film were in attendance – Austin Street Shelter directors, past and present, members from St. Paul Methodist Church and the Body and Soul program and of course the film stars Dorothy Wilkerson, Carol Brewer and Susan Nowlin. And, as Carol so touchingly said after seeing the movie, “(Roosevelt) he was there . . . I laughed, I cried, I was with Roosevelt again.”
This was a truly a special night! I frankly was overwhelmed by the enormously positive response from the audience, a highly diverse group of people from all walks of life. The film, it seems, speaks to that which is human in all of us.
Thank you to all of you who helped make this film happen! It has been a wonderful journey and we are still in the midst of it. There will be more showings in or around Dallas and around the country and world (check out our Media page and Facebook for updates). And eventually you will all be able to own a copy of Stickman to share with your friends, family and community… and help spread its uplifting message of human dignity and the power of love.
